UVA coach Debbie Ryan: Are they doing enough to get Sharnee Zoll to the NCAA tourney?
#25 Virginia put up a valiant effort against #2 North Carolina in the ACC semifinals. Monica Wright scored 31 points and Sharnee Zoll put on a point guard summa cum laude performance. North Carolina won 80-65, pulling away in the last few minutes of the game. Rashanda McCants had a fantastic game with 23 points and 10 rebounds. She twisted her ankle in the first half forcing to sit on the bench for six minutes of play. North Carolina plays Duke today for the ACC tourney championship at 1pm.
#11 Duke played terrific defense to defeat #4 Maryland and advance to the ACC final. Joy Cheek put on an all-tourney performance against the talented Terrapins to negate their inside game while also scoring 16 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. Wanisha Smith scored 22 points, a career high. Marissa Coleman lead Maryland with 20 points.
