Magnificent Monday

North Carolina and LSU put exclamation points on their regular season in-conference records yesterday. Both teams finished the season with perfect conference records, fourteen wins, zero losses. Carolina utilized their superior team speed and two dominating senior performances from Latoya Pringle (14 pts, 8 rebs, 6 blocks) and Erlana Larkins (14 pts, 10 rebs) to cruise to an 82-51 win over 12th ranked Duke. It was Duke's worst defeat in fifteen seasons.
Sixth ranked LSU jumped to an 11-0 lead against Mississippi State. After halftime, MSU pulled to within two points of the lead, but never got any closer. MSU couldn't solve the problems presented by Sylvia Fowles (20 pts, 12 rebs). Fowles set a career SEC record with her 79th double-double. LSU's tenacious defense kept away any serious threats from the Bulldogs in the 64-49 win.

Candace Parker scored 30 points in her final college regular season game as #3 Tennessee defeated #22 Georgia, 72-63. Parker has decided not to play out her final season of eligibility at Tennessee. She was redshirted her freshman year. I really hope that she gets drafted by Atlanta in the WNBA draft. She is a delight to watch on a basketball court.

Don't miss the Big East showdown tonight between #1 UConn and #4 Rutgers. Both have 14-1 conference records.
