Tennessee chewed up a very potent Stanford offense that had put up 82 points against UConn in their last game, limiting the Cardinal to 48 points. The Volunteers were all over every Stanford possession making an excellent offensive team look totally out of sync. Coach Summitt had her team up from the opening tip. Tennessee started four seniors. Stanford started one. Tennessee won the National Championship last season. Stanford is sixteen years removed from it's last national title. Tennessee looked poised and confident the entire game. Stanford looked very tentative on just about every possession.
Nicky Anosike had a fantastic game, offensively and defensively. Candice Parker is the horse that UT rides, but having Anosike step up and play such a total game gave Tennessee the edge they needed to cool down a team as hot as Stanford. Tennessee limited the fabulous Candace Wiggins to 14 points.

It was a fantastic season.
